Hi Neighbor! Shopping Local, Volume II

Another list of local places to shop! While it’s easy to shop online, if you’re able to get around, it’s also nice to shop at and support local businesses, too. So, we’ll be publishing lists of independent and/or local stores. If you’d like to nominate a store or shop for the list, email and tell us about them! It’s probably a good idea to check websites for each store’s hours.

Food

My Grandma’s of New England www.mygrandma.com

It’s great to see a local company become a national hit! These delicious coffee cakes that originated in Hyde Park come in several flavors, with lower fat, and/or walnut free options. They’re all made under Kosher supervision. You can buy them at Shaw’s in Hyde Park, Roche Brothers in West Roxbury, Village Market in Roslindale, and Stop & Shop in Dedham. And they make coffee, too. If you’re not able to get to a store you can order online. 1636 Hyde Park Avenue, Hyde Park, 1.888.847.2636

Fornax Bread Companywww.fornaxbread.com

Since 1997 this family owned operation has been making amazing breads, pastries, cookies, sandwiches and soup. Everything is made from scratch. They also offer fairly traded and organic Equal Exchange coffee and teas. And, they offer doggie biscuits, too! 27 Corinth Street, Roslindale, 617.325.8852
