Recently I had the pleasure of talking with my friend Annie Tevelin, Founder and CEO of a fabulous skincare line called SkinOwl…
Annie, why do oils penetrate faster and absorb more than creams?
Essentially, oils are a smaller molecule than creams made with lipids. This smaller molecule allows the oil to “slip and slide” to places these larger molecule creams cannot. Different oils have different penetration rates but most adhere to this notion.
Can you add a few drops of face oil to face cream or layer?
Yes! I prefer to put my oils on top of my face cream during the winter, especially in a dry climate. The oil acts as a barrier and protects the skin from environmental aggressors and evaporation. During the summer, I will use it alone or under my moisturizer, especially if I’m in a more humid climate.
Tell our readers about your fabulous neck oil!
It is now called the Spirulina Sea Quench but the formulation has stayed the same. The proprietary ocean mineral algae blend as well as the DMAE and MSM are what makes the formula tightening and brightening and highly penetrative. It is great layered onto the skin straight after a shower, while your skin is still damp.
Thank you, Annie!
Many of us think using oil on our skin will clog pores, but that’s not so. The right oil will penetrate faster than cream laying on your skin. I love the Lavender Oil from SkinOwl for summer. It’s calming, and the organic scent can help you sleep better! It’s great for all skin types, especially dry skin that pores clog during summer heat and perspiration. Here are few more of my faves from SkinOwl…
I LOVE the Pomegranate Cleanser! It leaves your skin squeaky clean and super hydrated, and it’s good for all skin types.
My customers adore the Geranium Drops! It’s also good for all skin types.
The Clary-Sage Drops are good for helping aging skin retain that beautiful luster.
LOVE their best-selling Body Oil! I apply it after a shower/bath on slightly damp skin. It locks in moisture and leaves my skin radiant. It’s fragrance-free, lightweight and absorbs quickly. It’s much better than using a cream that feels sticky and lays on your skin’s surface.
I LOVE to put the Cucumber Peptide Quench in the fridge to chill for a refreshing eye treatment to de-puff and hydrate, especially after a night out or a day in the sun!
