Boston’s Blessing of the Animals

We’re happy to tell everyone about two special October events to celebrate our pets…

St. Francis of Assisi Virtual Blessing of the Animals

Live via Zoom, October 10, 1pm ET

Many believe St. Francis of Assisi was able to talk with animals because he saw the divine in them. St. Francis understood their sacred role in life, and guided people to their own powerful realization that the bond and relationship between people and their pets is profound and sacred.

Boston’s own Animal Chaplain, The Reverend Kaleel Sakakeeny, invites our readers in the Greater Boston area to a virtual Blessing of the animals, with their pet or with a photograph if their pet has passed on. Rev K will read out the names of all the animals to be blessed, read a poem or two, and talk briefly about the honor and privilege of sharing our lives with an animal friend. Holy water, sprinkled virtually, will be offered to those who wish it.

Attendance is $2. Visit www.animaltalksinc.com to register.

Live Blessing of the Animals in West Roxbury

Sunday, October 17, 10am ET

Join Rev K and The Reverend Abby Henrich, pastor of the Stratford Street United Church in West Roxbury on Sunday, October 17 at 10am for a live “Blessing-of-the-Animals-in-the-Field.” Everyone will gather with their pets in the field behind the West Roxbury YMCA, where Rev K and Abby will welcome the animals and their people, talk briefly about the beauty of the bond between them, and perform a simple blessing of gratitude and love. A touch of Holy Water is available to those who wish it; many consider water a pure connector between us and Spirit.

R.S.V.P. to Rev K at [email protected].

And as always, Rev K says reach out to him with questions about the event and his practice.
