Women’s History Month got its start in 1981 when Congress and President Reagan proclaimed the week of March 7, 1982 as Women’s History Week. International Women’s Day Celebration, March 8 – Boston Mayor Marty Walsh and the Office of Women’s Advancement will hold this event to honor women’s voices and contributions while recognizing the work still ahead. Women in Leadership: Massachusetts Trailblazers, March 19 – As Massachusetts and the nation see more women than ever serving in government, a panel of political leaders will discuss their pathways to civic leadership. Speakers will offer insights on the campaign trail and discuss creating change in public office. Boston Women, Inc.’s 10th Anniversary “Women Amongst Us” award luncheon, March 21 – Boston Women, Inc. was formed to educate the public and celebrate Boston women. They’re committed to the idea that women’s stories must be told, and that our progress depends on educating current and future generations.
