Golden Girl to Golden Goddess!

By Beauty Editor Katrina Hess

We know how important it is to use high SPF sunscreens and stay out of the sun, but we also want to have a youthful summer glow.

Here’s how we can protect our skin and look great, too!

Start by exfoliating your skin to get rid of old skin cells and oil build up.

Use a lightweight face tint to even out your skin tone. I like to go a shade darker than a client’s natural skin tone for summer. Blend the tint in well, especially around your hairline and neck. (Yes, it’s ok to use makeup on your neck!)

Bronzer – Powder, Cream or Both?

I like powders and creams. Both are easy to use. How do you decide?

If your skin tends to get shiny or oily I recommend you use powder, which also is good if you have enlarged pores around your nose and chin. I also recommend using a bronzer that is matte, not shimmery.

If your skin tends to be dry, try using a bronzer cream. Cream bronzer also is wonderful to highlight your cheek bone, whether your skin is dry or oily. I like to use a cream stick bronzer with a little glow or shimmer.

Apply your bronzer – cream or powder – to your forehead and up to your hairline, avoiding the space between your eyebrows. Apply it down the bridge of your nose and on your chin.

Next, take a darker color and apply it to the sides of your face under your cheekbones. This will create a contoured look. You can also use a powder bronzer that is a shade darker than your skin tone under your jaw to contour your neck and chest.

If you’re using powder bronzer, I suggest using a medium size powder brush. If you’re using a cream bronzer, use a flat, synthetic brush. Sweep the brush across your forehead and downwards on the side of your face and nose.

Bronzer also doubles up for a light eye color! Apply a wash of bronzer across your eyelid for an all over sun-kissed look.

Thanks! I never thought of using a darker to highlight! Since my aging skin has been different to do eyes, I’ve resorted to one thick brush sweep of light bronzer as coverage for eye area..it opens up area and voila! Thnx again
