Beauty Basics for a Perfect Daytime Look!

By Beauty Editor Katrina Hess

Katrina creates amazing makeup looks for anyone, at any age. After trying to figure out how to adjust my makeup to my changing face, Katrina came to the rescue. We’re never too old to try something new, so why not treat yourself or a friend to a personal, customized makeup lesson and brow shaping at her fabulous Newbury Street studio! –XO Brenda

In less than 10 minutes, you can create a perfect look for daytime! Here’s how…

Brows – Well-groomed brows are an essential part of any look, whether you’re a more natural girl or you prefer glam, shapely brows. I suggest having a trained professional shape your brows and show you how to maintain them between salon visits, so you can always put your best face forward. (My favorite brow products are from Damone Roberts, a legend in the beauty industry!)

Eyes

  • Apply a nude eye shadow over your entire lid.
  • Define your eyes with a natural brown or black liner, keeping the color very close to the inner lid.
  • Curl your lashes and apply two coats of mascara.

Face

  • Start by hydrating your skin with a very lightweight moisturizer.
  • Apply a tinted moisturizer or lightweight foundation starting at the center of your face, working towards the edges. I like to blend foundation edges with a large brush to avoid lines.
  • Lightly apply concealer to the inner corners of your eyes to instantly look well-rested.
  • Brush a light-colored brow pencil or clear gel across your brows.
  • Apply a light-colored bronzer to the flat portions of your face to add depth and warmth.
  • Apply a warm-colored blush to the apple of each cheek.
  • Dab on your favorite matte lip color and grab your keys – you’re ready!

Tip…

  • Add color to your face that complements your outfit in a subtle way. Light pink, peach, silver, and gold make a great base for your skin. Cover by applying a neutral tone on top.
  • To really leave a lasting impression, try adding a pop of color to your lower lash line with a light brown, grey or deep navy eyeliner.
